Delivery Terms

An admin and a simulator that explain every delivery date a customer sees, and where each rule comes from.

A retailer delivers to the door four ways: same day from a store, next day along a courier loop between stores, from the city fulfillment center, and by carrier upstate. The rules behind each date were spread over code, JSON configs and two models that knew nothing about each other. Nobody in support could answer “why this date?” without a developer.

The first iteration moves only delivery dates and their settings into a separate service. The admin puts every hidden rule next to the setting it affects and says where each value comes from. The simulator replays any order for any moment, with the configuration that was live then or with a draft that is not live yet.

The boards below show the six core screens with the mechanics called out. The company, stores, addresses and numbers are fictional.
