Srpska istorija
Fourteen centuries of Serbian history as a visual novel in Serbian, with the sources printed next to the facts.
A second app for the same audience as Srpski, built on the opposite premise: here history is the subject and the language rides along inside it. Fifteen chapters run from the Slavs crossing the Danube in the seventh century to 1950, following the periodisation Serbian schools use.
Every chapter teaches one grammatical thing the era itself explains: the aorist through the Kosovo songs, the imperative through the 1804 gathering in the woods, the future tense through a soldier promising to be home by Christmas. Each chapter ends with a test of eight questions, five on events and three on language.
The design problem worth solving here was trust. Dialogue is invented; fact cards are not, and they are marked apart in red with the chapter's sources printed underneath. Where historians disagree, as with the Kosovo cycle, the Načertanije or the two resistance movements of 1941, the card says so instead of picking a side.
